As you all know, New York Fashion Week just ended this past week and it was nothing short of amazing and inspiring. Waking up in NYC just gives you this refreshing boost of energy to hustle for whatever your reason is for being out there. I’ve been there more times than I can count – and still get the same amount of excitement as I did my first time. While I did not plan as efficiently as I thought I did, I made the time that I did have well worth it. Planning out your schedule for an entire day when there’s so much that you want to accomplish, can be challenging. But, like everything .. you learn. Next time around, I will definitely plan properly for fashion week next season.
Directly after work Tuesday evening, I met with one of my best friends/ photographer and headed straight to NYC to prepare for the next day. I stayed at The Leon Hotel, a specialty boutique styled hotel located just steps away from the Manhattan Bridge and a Popeyes 🙂 This location was the perfect backdrop for a photo session. It was very stylish and charming with a modern feel. And the bed? Wow. No lie. The most comfortable bed I’ve ever laid in. The staff was very pleasant and helpful when I needed recommendations for Italian food at 11pm at night. I’m spontaneous like that. Anyone who knows me, knows I do well with just getting up and going.
After the first show at 9am, we found a Starbucks to sit in to have a coffee and to plan out the rest of our day. This Starbucks was just across the street from Spring Studios. So I didn’t have to walk too far in the 6 inch heels I was wearing. The outfit I chose to wear was very minimal. My aim was to wear very comfortable clothing and then to add my new favorite Steve Madden booties. They were pretty comfy for the most part, but after about three hours of walking the New York City Streets – it was time to change. There was so much running back and forth from the hotel and getting back to the studios in time for the other shows through-out the day. Either way it was wonderful experience. Everyone should have a leather biker jacket. It doesn’t have to be super expensive .. just good quality leather. And this is my second leather from Zara. I passed down the first one I bought to Tatyana (my daughter). The Zara striped yellow shirt I am wearing – I am so in love with this piece! The details on the sleeves really caught my eye and I love a long dramatic sleeve. The second I saw it online, I hopped in an Uber to Zara and was very surprised that they had one last small. It’s comfortable and a loose fitting. My jeans are from H&M’s “Girls bite back” collection, and it fit my frame perfectly. Unfortunately, the bag in the photo is no longer available. It is from Forever 21 and is my favorite accessory right now. If you can’t tell that I’m, just check my Instagram.
