At a time like now, I think that we’re all looking for the chance to wear pieces that are warm and cozy, yet still very wearable statement pieces through-out our simple day to day. Luckily at the Marcel Ostertag’s latest Autumn/ Winter 2018 runway show during NYFW, that is what was delivered. I took my seat as other attendee’s prepared their cameras, took group selfies and expressed their excitement to see what Mr. Ostertag had up under his sleeve for our viewing and future modeling pleasure. It was a packed house. After sometime everyone was seated, the light’s went dim and the music started.
The models began to grace the runway with minimal make up and a mash up combination of old, current and futuristic vibes. All the models wore a sleek pulled back bun, complimenting the less-is-more make up choice. The collection titled “Opium”, beautifully crafted in Germany featured silks, sequins, cashmere, flowy chiffons and 70’s inspired mod styled dresses. Whenever the colours, prints and layers seemed to become plenty – a solid floating like dress or sequined pant suit would take it’s place on the runway.
The intricate details went well with the muted tones and pops of colours through-out the entire collection. Each delicate piece could easily be worn with the next. Making the collection complete for any consumer to get their money’s worth should they decide to adopt more than just a couple pieces. With admirable ease, Marcel Ostertag provided an alluring experience with this collection. Paying homage to YSL, “Opium” A/W 2018 was delightful.
